Large nude in the Red Chair – 1929
This is a painting that has a terrifying force. It is Olga Khokhlova, one of its first women. At the time he painted this painting Picasso is about to break up with Olga… We now understand better this despair I feel looking at.
Portrait-of-Marie-Thérèse-1937
1927 Picasso met Marie-Thérèse Walter, she was only 17 years old. It is she who succeeds in Olga. Their affair will not be disclosed until his majority. In 1935, she will give birth to Maya.
Portrait-of-Dora-Maar-1937
Theodora Markovitch said Dora Maar, one of these mistress was the observer authorized by Picasso during the realization of his painting Guernica in 1937. This young photographer took pictures of Picasso at work and of the stages of the realization of the table. He used these pictures in black and white to change his painting.
Woman sitting in the hat – 1939
This is no longer the same Marie-Thérèse… She has to make room for the new muse Picasso… May be an explanation for this sad expression?
