Where is the man today? What is it now? How has t – it evolved?

A series of sculptures made from 2014. Initially it was for me as an animal in the same way as other: rhinoceros, bear, hippopotamus… The name “JOJO” comes from that of a chimpanzee who was in the Park of the nursery in Nancy, where I spent many hours during my childhood…

Little by little, over the achievements, Jojo is is more “humanized”… The man and the monkey, the object of much controversy. Today, for the modern paleoanthropology, the man descends not the monkey, the man is a monkey.

Through this series of sculptures which sometimes incorporates icons of contemporary society, I want to challenge, pointing out that regardless of the person who is represented, it is a monkey. This allows each in its place.
We are experiencing, particularly through many works of art at a “iconise” of individuals. Through their images are etched into the collective unconscious feelings that we their pay sometimes twisted or reason… Just to name a few that immediately appear symbols and images related to feelings: Coluche, Gainsbourg, Brigitte Bardot, Steeve McQuenn…

The characters that I represented, as Karl Lagerfeld, Jean Paul Gaultier, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, Einstein… have been chosen somewhat randomly but especially for what they represent. Some other characters are borrowed so to speak to civil society, they are anonymous that you can cross, and which are the reflection of our society: badboy, show-off, the rocker, punk, the football fan, the biker, the thinker, the Boxer… All have a side endearing, because these are authentic characters and without concessions, perhaps unlike the series ‘stars’…

I have no favourite theme and as long as I have desires and opportunities to create new ones, I will continue…
